Adelberg commented on the word uncorroborated
In the IRA bombing cases noted for serious miscarriage of justice issues, the pigs beat the defendants into confessing to crimes they didn't commit. Adelberg commented on the word anachronistic
In the famous English case "R v R 1991" the defendant was prosecuted for raping his estranged wife. Before this case husbands had immunity from the law on the basis that on marriage husband and wife became ‘one flesh’ and that by marriage a woman implied her consent to sexual intercourse throughout the time of marriage. The courts removed that immunity in 1991, calling it anachronistic, which is how I came to know this awesome word.
