  • So, you're trying to name a company that's out to save energy / the planet? Tough luck, so is everybody else.

Here's a list of words that might help as you try and birth a brand.

  • So - what's the consensus on this word? Annoying business-speak or a useful addition to the language?

At work I'll occasionally throw it into an estimate to describe a specific bit of the creative process. Should I keep it, or throw it in the same pile as "Synergize" and "Impactful"?

  • Merci Beaucoup. I'd like to claim creativity, but I'm afraid they're all work related. I imagine that Wordie has the potential to become the ultimate resource or copywriters, so I thought I'd start contributing lists which further that goal.

  • And here I thought you'd just misspelled firm.

Could anyone disprove me if I claimed it was an alternate name for buttercup?

  • It was a failed attempt to find a way to describe fake leather that didn't sound cheap. Vegan leather's really the best, but hard to use honestly in the description of a product that uses a combination of fake and real leather. BMW uses leatherette in their product descriptions, and the fashion world seems to prefer faux leather. I ended up going with faux, but I still have the feeling that there's a better word out there.

  • Some of these are general descriptions, others refer to brand names. C'est la vie.

  • I feel better already.

  • I also came across: "buffet of practicality."

  • As I was browsing furniture websites to create this list, I came across the phrase, "Outdoor furniture becomes elegant, with the energy of the lotus flower and the waterlily."

  • I reject your condemnation and demand condemnation + renouncement.

  • How about, "can I have some more smör on my s'more?"

  • After learning about synecdoche in a literature class, I was so proud of my elitism in understanding it. Now, Kaufman's ruined everything.

  • It's a work thing, not a fetish, I swear.

  • Welcome, Atourgates, and beware: Wordie also has the potential to become the ultimate time-suck. And what a way to go. :-)

  • I like your first 3 lists. All of them are very unusual.
