  • The pronunciation makes this word interesting. To look at the word, one would think it meant "earth duck" or maybe "rock duck", but it's a clam pronounced, as madmouth noted, gooeyduck. The only case I know of where 'eo' is pronounced 'oo-ee'.

  • Both a synonym of synonym and an antonym of antonym. The only usages I can find are either in lists of -onym words, lists of obscure words, or answering the query "What's another word for synonym?"

  • I've seen 'thelyphthoric' listed in some specialized dictionaries of unusual words. It is listed on the site Luciferous Logolepsy and in Mrs. Byrne's Dictionary and Peter Bowler's _Superior Person's Book of Words_. The definition given is "that which corrupts women". The 'thely-' and 'phth' roots would be Greek, so the definition is feasible, but I've never seen it in any "official" dictionaries.
