A true Geordie is someone born anywhere along the banks of the River Tyne. Therefore everyone in the North East is not neccessarily a Geordie. For instance anyone born in Newcastle, Gateshead or any of the other little towns or villages on the banks of the Tyne arte true Geordies. As the Tyneside dialect calls anyone christened George,Geordie, as in "Hiya Geordie." it probably comes from one of Tynesides favourite sons George Stephenson.
