mabool commented on the word siwash
As defined on Wiki, ‘siwash’ is derogatory, and was ethnic of North West Indian origin. In modern times, say from 1920 on, the word became generic, applying especially to white guys who were down on their luck and therefore had to live in the woods without shelter. The average guy believes that his blanket is for warmth. The siwash knows better. The siwash sets a log on fire and lies down next to it. In this situation, your blanket is not for warmth, rather it is your protection from flying sparks. Only the siwash knows this.

mabool commented on the word eskimo
The Eskimo is laconic.
He lives along a slough,
that is
a lowland here.
He drives a pickup
up along a grade.
He sees a siwash.
The siwash sits upon a hill
that is
a landmark here.
The Eskimo begins to slow
and speaking from within,
He wants to know,
You got no people, Bo?
There is
a view of cities.
but the Eskimo continues on.
A dog begins to bark.
Well, the siwash sit,
on the siwash hill.
He is
the sorry man,
He's the buzzard among
the barking dog.
