Additional comment: My mother was from Philadelphia, PA. Her mom was PA German (spoke the lang.) & father was Scotch-Irish from York PA. Not sure where my mom picked up the expression to tarry-hoot (tarryhootin').
My mom used this expression (not sure if one word or two) when kids were jumping on the beds, making too much noise, acting up, etc. Examp: "Stop that tarry-hootin' and go to sleep!"
