The SF Chronicle reference is absolutely incorrect. When referring to the Stags Leap District, there is no use of the apostrophe. When referring to a product from either the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars or Stags' Leap Vineyards, care must be taken to ensure the apostrophe is is the proper place to reflect the specific winery to whom the piece is referencing. If it is not from either of these aforementioned two wineries and is, instead, referring to wines produced by the other 17 wineries in the Stags Leap District Winegrowers Association, there must be no apostrophe in the Stags.
