  • A wooden sailing ship, similar to a cog, used from the 16th to 19th century in the area of present-day Ukraine. A baidark had a flat bottom about 3 or 4 meters wide, narrowing to tapered ends, and one 5-meter mast. It measured about 15 to 20 meters long. A baidak could carry a load of approximately 200 tons, and could be operated by oars or sail. Although primarily used for cargo, this type of ship was also used in military campaigns.
