From Ancient Greek κωλοβαθριστής (kōlobathristēs, "one who goes on stilts"), from κωλόβαθρον (kōlobathron, "stilt"), from κῶλον (kōlon, "limb") + βαίνω (bainō, "I go") + -phobia ("fear of"), from φόβος (phobos, "fear").
