A general name used for an automatic stamp. The word derives from the name of the Swiss firm, Frama AG, an early producer of such issues. Automatic stamps are produced individually by a machine, on demand, in a denomination selected by the customer. Normally no date appears on the stamp. Also called ATM, from the German word Automatenmarken.
