I like it particularly when it's used as a verb. So few of us ever achieve lasting fame and glory, but to achieve it as a verb... now that's something.

My favorite use of this word was on the first episode of the TV series Stargate 1, when one of the characters, facing some sort of problem where the equipment wasn't working properly (typically), told Richard Dean Anderson (who had played MacGyver of course), "We'll just have to macgyver it!" Proof that in the not-too-distant future this word had become a standard part of the vocabulary.
