  • noun A genus of white-spored agaricaceous fungi having a somewhat membranaceous, striate pileus and a smooth cartilaginous hollow stem. The species are numerous, occurring in forests either on the ground or on decaying wood M. galericulata is common on decaying trunks and stumps.
