On a (different) Wikipedia page: "Scissores (carvers): Little is known about this type of gladiator apart from the name and the weapon they used. They used a special short sword called a scissores. This sword had two blades (that looked like a pair of open scissors but without a hinge). It is speculated that they attempted to trap their opponent's weapon between the twin blades in order to disarm them."
