mollusque commented on the word turacou
I was wondering about the preferred spelling when I added turacoverdin. I followed MW3, which cross-references "turaco", "turacou" and "turakoo" to "touraco". Digging a bit deeper, I find that in Google Scholar, they have 314, 5, 1 and 121 hits respectively. Another variant, "touracou" gets 7 hits. So "turaco" is the preferred spelling in the scientific literature. A regular Google search gives similar ratios. Strangely enough the genus name is Tauraco.
I also found an called "A collection of 4,741 word fragments that have unique completions with respect to 146,205 words", which notes that "turakoo" is the only word with the pattern ----k-o.
