  • Wollemi pine is better. Wollemi is just the general locale and indeed name for the national park where the tree was discovered.

  • Genus name is Wollemia after the national park in whose secluded gorges the trees grow. They are not pines sensu stricto. Neither are other Australasian trees called "pines" of the gymnosperm families Podocarpaceae and Araucariaceae (i.e. Norfolk Island Pine), or the angiosperm family Casuarinaceae (e.g. Australian Pine). Common names can be so deceiving, if not misleading.
