About the censoring at school: Simply run a ssh-server at home and then, when you are at school, just configure your browser to use it as a socks proxy. Not only will the censoring be ineffective, your connection will even be encrypted. In case you have a dynamic IP, simply use dyndns.com. That's how we did it back then in the good old days.
