it took two battalions two days to reach the other side of the island, the bn's were heavily reduced... one from a couple of 100 to 5, the other to 3.
uuhhh.....
The bn's managed to secure the islands two airstrips within 6 days of arriving and forced much of the japaneese resistance into hiding...
