The word protandrous can also refer to the same phenomenon in the hermaphrodite form of the worm Caenorhabditis elegans, which matures and releases large sperm loads before development of its oocytes.
The word anamnesis is also used in immunology to describe the enhanced and more rapid neutralization of an antigen upon second exposure; in other words, it is the "retrieval" of an immune response.
