How about enormity, which has nothing to do with size? And noisome, which has nothing to do with noise? Then there are the old standbys: decimate and enervate.
Not to mention such intrinsically ambiguous locutions as bimonthly and biweekly, where roughly half the population will not interpret them the way you do.
But then, I've had problems with the apparently innocent term 'next Saturday'.
