Words that sound like they might be the names of elements of the periodic table, but that aren't. Many of the words listed here were actually proposed as names for substances their creators thought were newly discovered elements but that weren't. Others are rejected names of actual elements, or are variant spellings of names of actual elements

Feel free to add verifiably real words to this list.

Some of my Wordnik friends have added some eye rhyme or "sounds like" terms, as in jargon "sounds/looks like" argon. Thanks for those too!
